Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days, online shopping is becoming trend global wide. Some believe that this will leads to imact local market or can overtake local shopping centres. I disagree with this statement.

Firstly, I believe that online shopping not gained trust yet. Many prefer to go in-store for satisfaction. To illustrate that , many fruits and vegitables quality are not liked by the customers when they order online. The primary reason is hand picking. The customer love to pick fruits and vegetables as per their requirment. The same behavioir noticed when they shop clothes. They can touch the clothes , try the clothes and feel the fabric.

Furthermore, many coutries are still not able to provide internet connectivity in isolated villages. The public do not have knowldge and access of internet. It takes too long to expand that network. Secondly, major portion of the population have technical illiteracy. They do not know how websites are being used to place the order. The online shopping requires online payments in which many struggles . It is very hard to fully replace this traditional system. There will be always a need of stores and local markets.

In conclusion, we cannot deny the fact that online shopping is becoming trend. But its wrong to say it will overtake local market. The local stores will be valued in future for sure. Many stores now sell product both online and offline. This has increased the compition amongst the sellers and buyers, as a result many took advantage of this trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I disagree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including customers’ preference to select or try products in person and limited internet access or digital skills in some communities. These examples address why physical shops may continue to exist. However, the development is uneven: the points about choosing produce and trying clothes are explained, while the claims about connectivity and online payments would benefit from a specific example or clearer explanation of how they prevent shops from closing. The final point that stores sell both online and offline is relevant but could be linked more directly to your argument. More balanced development and support would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument, and the ideas within the first body paragraph progress from food shopping to clothing. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “Secondly” appears after a point about internet access without clearly showing how the new point relates to the previous one, and “as a result” in the conclusion introduces a consequence that is not fully explained. The conclusion also shifts from the claim about shops surviving to competition between sellers and buyers. Use linking phrases to show the exact relationship between ideas, and keep each paragraph focused on one clearly developed line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “internet connectivity,” “isolated villages,” “technical illiteracy,” and “traditional system.” These choices help communicate your main points, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, noticeable spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations reduce precision, as in “trend global wide,” “imact local market,” “hand picking,” and “compition amongst the sellers and buyers.” Some words are also repeated, particularly “online shopping,” “stores,” and “local market.” Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for customer preferences, access barriers, and the relationship between online and physical retail would help you express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “fruits and vegetables quality are not liked by the customers when they order online” and the contrast introduced by “But” in the conclusion. Your meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction make the writing less controlled. For example, “this will leads” has an incorrect verb form, while “online shopping not gained trust yet” is missing an auxiliary. In “The customer love,” the subject and verb do not agree. Punctuation and spacing also need attention, especially around commas and sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using conjunctions; careful proofreading for auxiliaries, agreement, and punctuation will improve clarity.
