Student answer (Band 6.0)
Shopping is a basic need of everyone's life. While this is a topic of great controversy that benefits of online shopping outweigh those of in-store shopping.Well in my opinion online shopping has the edge over in-store shopping but it will not totally make in-store shopping obsolete.
On one hand, people who are busy with their jobs, find it easy to shop online as they have a facility to shop anything online;for instance, cloths, shoes, bags, groceries and even food . So people find it really convenient to order anything online.Firstly, it saves your time and more importantly it saves you from standing in long queue in the traffic as well as in the store counters for billing. We can instantly order food online when we are out of our groceries or some guests came out of the blue;its a better idea to order food online and get it delivered at your doorstep in no time.
On the other hand, some people are too curious to check the product first and then buy it, they believe online products are of not good quality as compared to the products in store. They have heard about different scams that happen online and they feel like it will happen to them as well. Moreover, its a way of spending time with the family to go in the malls for shopping;considering it as a tradition to do in-store shopping, eating;to have entertainment all in one under the same roof.
In my opinion, online retail is blooming but in-store shopping with stay there;the one whose salesman don't know how to run online buisness; they are to educated enough to understand the new technology, furthermore, they have permanent customers who visit and shop from them. While online shooping is here to stay as people love to relax and save their time now a days; as they find it really convenient to shop everything online. So I would say both will coexist alongside.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: online shopping is growing, but you disagree that it will eliminate all physical shops, concluding that “both will coexist alongside.” You address both sides with relevant reasons, including convenience and time-saving, concerns about product quality and scams, and shopping as a family activity. This covers the task well. However, some points are more fully explained than others: the examples of ordering food are detailed, while the claim that some shopkeepers cannot run an online business is difficult to follow and needs clearer explanation or support. To strengthen the response, develop this point and connect each example more explicitly to why physical shops will continue to exist. The position is present throughout, though the conclusion could state the answer more directly and precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, contrasting paragraphs beginning “On one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of reasoning easy to identify. You also use linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “In my opinion.” At times, however, these devices feel mechanical, and some sentences contain several ideas joined by commas or semicolons, making the relationships less clear. For example, the final paragraph moves from shopkeepers’ limitations to loyal customers and then to online convenience without clearly showing how each point supports coexistence. Use clearer sentence boundaries and arrange each paragraph around one main reason, with a direct explanation linking it to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “convenient,” “obsolete,” “scams,” “permanent customers,” and “coexist,” which helps communicate the topic and your viewpoint. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “under the same roof.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “cloths” for “clothes,” “buisness,” and “shooping.” Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “out of our groceries” and “they are to educated enough,” which can make the intended meaning harder to follow. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations. More precise terms for retail trends and customer behaviour would also help you express your ideas with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “when,” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “Shopping is a basic need of everyone's life. While” needs a space and a complete, correctly connected opening sentence; “people who are busy with their jobs, find” has incorrect comma placement; and “in-store shopping with stay there” has an incorrect verb form. There are also sentence fragments and run-on constructions, particularly in the paragraph beginning “On the other hand.” Practise building complete sentences and checking subject–verb relationships, verb forms, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
