Student answer (Band 5.0)

It will be undeniable to say that due to advancement, the online shopping is becoming common nowadays. Many argue that it is overcoming the local shops while other oppose to it. I strongly agree with this statement and I will illustrate in the forth coming paragraphs.

Firstly, due to the hectic schedule indiviual is not having the time to visit the market where they can buy the stuff. However to overcome this problem they do online shopping. As per the report more than 70% people really on online shopping in comparison with offline.

Secondly, more varities and flexiblity to order the items. By doing this, while sitting they are able to check everything in the entire store without any movement which might not be possible in terms of visiting shops. Although, compnay also provide some discounts or cashback to attract customer to buy stuff form the websites.

Despite, all of these the major drawback is the poor quality in some cases it has been noticed that the product does not seem appropriate. The in-person visit comes out to be more valuable as they check and inspect if the stuff is worthless or not. Another cons is the size by doing shoping offline they can wear the stuff for example clothes in many scenario there is lot of variation in sizes so that can be avoided.

To conclude, however online shopping is providing relaxation and flexibilty to the folks but also put the negative impact by providing false stuff. On the other hand local markets are trustworthy and durable where one can return if he does not like it or even get the money back.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear in the introduction: “I strongly agree,” and you give relevant reasons, including convenience, wider choice, discounts, and problems with product quality or clothing sizes. However, the response only partially addresses the specific prediction that all town and city shops will close. Much of the discussion compares online and in-person shopping, and the conclusion even describes local markets as trustworthy and useful for returns without explaining how this fits your agreement that shops will disappear. The reasons are also asserted rather than developed: for example, the claim that “more than 70%” rely on online shopping has no context or explanation. To strengthen the response, explain why these trends would eventually make physical shops unviable, and address whether any types of shops might remain.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate points, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression is uneven: the essay begins by supporting the closure of shops, then gives substantial attention to the advantages of physical shopping, and ends by calling local markets trustworthy without reconciling this with the stated position. Some links are also awkward or inaccurate, such as “Despite, all of these” and “Although” introducing a point that does not clearly contrast with the preceding idea. Group related points and use transitions that show the precise relationship between them; make the conclusion follow logically from the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “hectic schedule,” “flexibility,” “cashback,” “poor quality,” and “inspect,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “the online shopping” is unnatural, “more varieties” does not fit the intended meaning as well as “a wider range,” and “false stuff” is vague when referring to unsuitable or misrepresented products. Spelling errors such as “indiviual,” “varities,” “flexiblity,” and “compnay” are also noticeable. Build a more precise vocabulary for comparing retail options, and check spelling and common word combinations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain reasons and contrasts, for example, “Although, compnay also provide some discounts…” and “The in-person visit comes out to be more valuable as they check and inspect…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “Many argue … while other oppose to it,” where the subject and verb forms do not agree, and “the hectic schedule indiviual is not having the time,” which lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed clauses; proofread each sentence for a clear subject, verb, and punctuation.
