Student answer (Band 6.0)

Now-a-days online shopping has beeing surging rapidly. This is mainly because of technology advancement and personal convenivence. Even so, many people think that increse in online shopping will lead to closure of all the shops in the towns and cities .Though some reason have validity to certain extend, but its disgreement have outweight it.

To begain with, more people are now leaning towards online shopping as it is easy and convenient. People who cannot visit instore can easily order any items be that appereal, foods, or even grocery via online shopping. Many businesses have opened their online store where people can easily choose what they want. For instance, people use uber for grocery shopping or to order takeout foods. Shin is a popular platform among people for purchasing clothing and home decore.

Despite of all those things, I disagree with the idea that online shopping will result in closing of all shops .Most people wants to see and check items inperson before they buy. Especially whem buying food items , they tends to go through thorough check for the item they will be consuming. For example, people still prefer to buy their produce in person rather than order them online. Many individuals like to select their own meat, green vegetables, and even bread from the grocery store.

Similarly, many still prefer to purchase their clothes and shoes inperson. In this way one can go through the quality and materials of the product. Just like, a bride tends to visit stores to find her dress. She can try her wedding dress in person and look after the desing, colour, materials, fits and can choose an overall silhouette. So bridal showroom and appereal store seems to exist even though their online store exists.

Moreover, online shopping have made easier to improve the shopping experience and have made it easier, but it cannot take over the instore shops. Though it might reduce in number of physical stores , the shops in towns and cities will remain open.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I disagree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the prediction directly by explaining that shoppers value inspecting fresh food and trying clothes in person, and the examples of selecting produce and choosing a wedding dress make these reasons relevant and concrete. You also acknowledge the growth of online shopping, which helps show awareness of the opposing view. To strengthen the response further, develop the opening point about online convenience and business websites more explicitly as a counterargument, then explain more precisely why it will not eliminate physical shops. Some claims, such as “most people” preferring in-person shopping, would also benefit from qualification or support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting online shopping and reasons for retaining physical stores, and a concluding position. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “Despite,” “Similarly,” and “Moreover” help signal the stages of the argument, and the food and clothing examples are grouped logically. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, a few links are awkward or do not express the intended relationship clearly: “Despite of all those things” and “Just like” are examples. The first body paragraph also shifts from online convenience to examples of platforms without clearly tying them back to the central argument. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to shopping and retail, including “convenient,” “produce,” “quality,” “materials,” and “silhouette,” and you can describe specific examples rather than relying entirely on general terms. However, the range is limited in places, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “convenivence,” “appereal,” “decore,” and “inperson” appear in the response. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “thorough check for the item” and “look after the design.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main ideas, but they make the expression less controlled. Build a reliable set of collocations for shopping and proofread spelling; aim to use precise terms consistently rather than repeating “people” and “online shopping.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in “Though it might reduce in number of physical stores…” and a relative clause in “the item they will be consuming.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to limit control. For example, “many people think that increse… will lead” is followed by the faulty construction “some reason have validity… but its disgreement have outweight it”; later, “Most people wants” and “online shopping have made” show agreement problems. Review subject–verb agreement and build complete, well-formed sentences, especially when combining contrasting ideas. Check punctuation around sentence openings and clauses as well.
