Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this digital era, people like to do an online shopping owing to that shopping centres and local shops will be close in the next years. I disagree with this sentence to a large extent.
To begin with, traditional shopping will never replace with an online shopping. The offline shopping is more trust worthy compared to a digital. This is because customers can physically see products and check the quality of that products. For example, according to a survey, in small towns, people always go to local shops and malls because they know each other and can easily trust shopkeepers. If they like products then they pay for it, otherwise they will go to different stores. In addition, custombers can also bargain, which is not possible in an online shopping. As a result, shops and stores will never replaced permanently.
On the other hand, remote shopping provide comfort and save a lot of time. People can purchase products without going out from home as well as they do not need to worry about weather. For instance, due to advancement of technology people can get delivery within a day through Amazon and Instacart. Additionally, in mega cities, people do not have enough time to check about latest fashion, so; they can see trending items on digital purchasing platforms with exclusive offers.
In conclusion, although remote shopping provide latest fashion options and more time saving, traditional shpping provide trust and quality. Consquently, in small town, prople definitely go to shops for shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree that online shopping will cause all town and city shops to close. You support this with relevant points about seeing product quality, trusting local shopkeepers, bargaining, and the convenience of online delivery, so the response addresses both sides of the issue. However, the argument is not fully developed: the claim that traditional shopping “will never” be replaced is stronger than the evidence provided, and the small-town example is general rather than specific. The final paragraph also focuses mainly on small towns, leaving the future of shops in cities less clearly addressed. Explain how physical shops might adapt or coexist with online retailers to make your position more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow, and the ideas within each paragraph are generally grouped by topic. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some of the flexibility expected at the next level. However, the progression is occasionally mechanical, and links between claims could be clearer. For example, the move from trust in local shops to the broad conclusion that shops will never be replaced is abrupt. The final contrast between remote and traditional shopping repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and develop the conclusion from the whole argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “physically see products,” “bargain,” “delivery,” and “exclusive offers.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “digital purchasing platforms.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “do an online shopping,” “the offline shopping,” and “remote shopping” are not consistently natural expressions. Spelling errors such as “custombers,” “shpping,” and “Consquently” are noticeable, while “close” is used where “close down” is needed. Build a more reliable range of natural shopping-related phrases and proofread spelling; this would make your meaning smoother and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If they like products then they pay for it” and a reason clause beginning “This is because.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “traditional shopping will never replace with an online shopping” has an incorrect verb construction, and “remote shopping provide” and “traditional shopping provide” lack subject–verb agreement. Articles and number are also inconsistent in “the quality of that products.” Review passive forms, agreement, and article use, and check punctuation in longer sentences. More accurate control of these patterns, alongside your attempts at complex sentences, would strengthen the response.
