Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the present time, online shopping increses day by day. The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing. I completely disagree with this statement. I will explain my reasons in the upcoming paragraphs.
To beign with, my first reason is that it is true that online shopping saves time but it doesn't shows the quailty of the product. For example, in a shop people can see the real product and check the quality and if they don't like they can ask for another one with better quailty. On the other hand, in online shopping people can't check if the product is really that good that shows in picture and if they want to return they have to go through a process which can be time consuming.
Furthermore, people can't bargining in online shopping because these platforms have a fixed price. But while shopping in a shop in town or cities people can ask for discount and if they are regular customers, shop owners give them discount without even asking. For instance, a survey conducted in 2020, showed that shop owners always give discount to their local customers becuse it is encourge the customer to come again and again in their shop for shopping and they fell valued.
In conclusion, it is 100% true that online shopping has a lot of benifits but it can't take shut down the shops in towns and cities. People always prefer to go and check the quailty of the product before buying it .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely disagree that online shopping will close all town and city shops. You give two relevant reasons—customers can inspect products in person and may negotiate discounts—and support them with examples. However, the discussion is uneven: the product-quality point is explained more fully, while the bargaining point relies on a broad survey claim and could explain more clearly why this would keep physical shops open. Your conclusion restates your view but adds little. The response is 241 words, so it is 9 words below the 250-word minimum; the 17 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop the second reason and its link to the question to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help readers identify each stage. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the linking is somewhat formulaic, and some connections within sentences are awkward—for example, the contrast introduced by “On the other hand” leads into a long explanation that could be divided and organised more clearly. The survey example also needs a more explicit link to the claim about shops remaining open. Use clearer referencing and vary transitions while making each paragraph’s reasoning progress step by step.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online shopping,” “quality,” “fixed price,” “discount,” and “regular customers.” Some phrases, such as “time consuming” and “local customers,” are relevant to the discussion. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable: “increses,” “quailty,” “bargining,” “becuse,” and “benifits.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “take shut down the shops” and “shows the quality.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but they reduce precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations for discussing product inspection, bargaining, and the continued role of physical retailers.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some longer sentences, including conditional structures such as “if they don’t like they can ask for another one.” The overall meaning remains understandable, and the response shows an attempt to connect ideas in more complex ways. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “it doesn’t shows” should be “it doesn’t show,” and “people can’t bargaining” needs a verb form such as “people can’t bargain.” The sentence beginning “a survey conducted in 2020” also has an unclear structure, while “it is encourage” should be “it encourages.” Aim for more accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and break long sentences into clearer units. This will strengthen control without sacrificing variety.
