Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely belived that all markets and shops will be closed permanently in future due to the online shopping system.I strongly agree with this statement that online shopping system will be more beneficial in upcoming time.In this essay, I would dicuss the both opinions. First reason of supporting this view is that present lifestyle has made everyone busy in their life espcially professionals and students. This is mainly because people have to spend a lot of time on their working place either school or in office therefore they do not have time to go bazar and shop the things they needed. For instance, the job holders after coming back from their job they would not have energy and time to go to shops, therefore, they prefer online shopping. Second reason of supporting online shopping is problems of traffic congestions. In recent years, people are suffering the heavy traffic problems which waste a lot of time of people. When people go to shopping their precious time has been spent on roads waiting for smooth traffic. As a result, people do not like to visit markets and shops however they like to order online which is declinig the importance of shops in rular and also in urban areas. On the other hand, some people argue that shops will be more beneficial in future because online shopping do not provide satisfaction to public. This is mainly because they order a thing but they receive a totally differenet product and it has not cashback gurantee as well. Therefore, majority of people would like to go physcially bazar and purchase things from shops in future. Taking everything into account, online shopping system provides convience to public but markets and shops should not be closed because it provides great opportunities of employment to people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is stated clearly at the beginning: you agree that online shopping will grow, and you give relevant reasons involving busy lifestyles and traffic. The examples about workers returning home tired and shoppers losing time on the roads help explain these points. However, the response does not fully resolve the question of whether *all* town and city shops will close. The opposing view is introduced, but its point about receiving the wrong product is not developed with an example or weighed against your agreement. The conclusion also shifts to saying shops should remain open for employment, which makes your final position less consistent. Develop this tension and explain why your reasons support your precise view about all shops closing or not closing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a paragraph presenting an opposing view, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First reason,” “Second reason,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main stages. However, progression is somewhat mechanical, and the conclusion does not clearly follow from the argument: you strongly agree that shops will close, but finish by saying they should not close. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly the long sentence beginning “When people go to shopping,” followed by “As a result.” Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, connect explanations more precisely, and make the final paragraph resolve rather than introduce a conflict in your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online shopping,” “traffic problems,” “employment,” and “cashback guarantee.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “precious time” and “job holders.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the reader pause: for example, “go bazar,” “smooth traffic,” and “declining the importance of shops.” Spelling errors such as “belived,” “dicuss,” and “convenience” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural phrases for shopping and commuting, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish between shops becoming less popular and all shops actually closing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “This is mainly because” and “therefore,” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors recur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. For example, “people have to spend a lot of time on their working place” has an inaccurate grammatical pattern, while “their precious time has been spent” is an awkward passive construction in context. The opening also runs several clauses together without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached reason or result, then check subject–verb agreement, tense, articles, and commas.
