IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You have just read an article in an international travel magazine which contained some information about your town that is incorrect.

Write a letter to the editor of the magazine. In your letter

• correct the information in the article
• explain why it is important for the magazine to give correct information
• suggest what the magazine should do about this situation

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

I, the mayor of the town, is writing this letter to thank you on behalf of all the citizens on publishing such a detailed article in international magazine regarding our town called Patan.

To begin with, I must applaud you on how explicitly you have defined about monumental architecture, serene nature, lifestyle of people, complex cuisine and celebration of numerous festivals within the town. However, there is one small mistake mentioned about Rani-ni-vav, a very popular stepwell situated within town.

Apparently, you have stated that it is close to highway whereas the original location is within the older region of the town. It is crucial to provide accurate information related to location of such magnificent heritage place as it can directly impact our tourism and can also affect employment ratio.

Therefore, I suggest you to articulate new article and publish it in the local newspaper and on social media too, so that a correct information is perceived by maximum user. And ultimately it will protect the identity of our historical place.

I will be looking forward to an updated article in coming days.
