Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir,
I hope you are doing well. I just read your article in an international travel magazine and it had some information which is incorrect about my town.
It says that the population of my town is 1000 which is not accurate its 1500 people. moving further, it says that my town don't have any hospital which is totally wrong , there are actually 2 of them. Also, it says that there people can do hiking which is also not right , there are few sports for climbing in my area namely The red stone, The hiking place and The hiking villa.
In my view point, its not kind to provide wrong information about a place in such famous magazine as it can effect tourism and make negative impact on people's life. So it will lead to some complicated situation in future. Therefore, you must change it.
However, there are some ways to tackle with this situation. At first, we should stop printing of this magazines until we corrects the information and in upcoming article mention about it .So everyone can have correct information.
yours faithfully,
Soni

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You successfully identified the incorrect information regarding population, hospital availability, and hiking facilities. You also explained the importance of accuracy and suggested solutions. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, although the development of ideas is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are more detailed; for instance, when discussing the impact on tourism, you could elaborate on how specific misinformation might deter potential visitors. Overall, the task requirements are met clearly and the purpose of the letter is evident throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Also', 'However', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt. For example, the transition 'moving further' is not standard English usage in this context. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this situation') is always precise will help improve the flow. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate the different points required by the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'my view point' instead of 'in my opinion' and 'tackle with' instead of 'tackle' or 'deal with'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'famous magazine' (should be 'a famous magazine'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your points, incorporating more precise and sophisticated terminology would enhance the quality of your writing and help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('my town don't have', 'there are few sports... namely The red stone') and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas, incorrect capitalization). The use of articles is also inconsistent at times. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and sentence punctuation. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
