Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I recently read an article in the international travel magazine there i have read an article about my city there was the information was printed it was not correct. This can mislead the other person to have misinformation about my town and it is not good to share the inappropriate information.
I would suggest you to correct the information in the article because i believe the printing media plays a vital role for spreading the information about what is happening in the world in the medium of an article.
I believe that while writing an article the writer should check the information whether it is correct on the internet or he/she can ask anyone knows about that town.
Yours faithfully,
Anuj Patel

| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is insufficient. You mention that the information is incorrect, but you fail to specify what the actual error is or provide the correct details. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which limits your ability to fully develop your ideas. To improve, you should provide specific examples of the misinformation and expand on your suggestions for how the magazine should rectify the situation, such as publishing a formal correction or an apology in the next issue.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'I believe' are used multiple times, and the transitions between sentences feel mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in light of this' to create a smoother flow between your ideas. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of the argument is somewhat basic.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'the information' and 'the article.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'printing media' instead of 'print media' and 'in the medium of an article.' To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to journalism and formal correspondence, such as 'inaccurate reporting,' 'rectify,' 'disseminate,' or 'misleading representation.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. For example, 'there i have read an article' is grammatically incorrect, and 'the information was printed it was not correct' is a run-on sentence. You also have issues with article usage ('the international travel magazine') and subject-verb agreement. To improve, focus on sentence boundary punctuation and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for basic errors like missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms will significantly improve your score.
