Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

Greetings for the day! I am writing this letter to inform you about the international travel magazine information contains information about my hometown, which is incorrect.

To begin with, the information about my town Chilliwack need to be corrected in international travel magazine which is published on 25 July,2026 . This article illustrates my town as a backward area such as bad educational facilities, hospitals and poor drainage system. This magazine also includes that people from this town is corrupt, which is not true.

Secondly, the focus is to correct the information because this wrong data about the town can spoil the reputation of people and society. Tourist will avoid this place to visit due to misinformation. As tourist are the main source of income in town, this can impact the economy. People have to suffer with loss in their business. All these factors together can impact the overall development in town.

Lastly, I have some suggestion to handle this situation. First of all, you can write a apology letter to inform people that information is not correct. Moreover, Correct the data about down and publish new magazine. Gather data from reliable sources or by visiting town. Make sure that information you publish is credible and reliable.

Hoping a prompt response from your side.

Yours faithfully 28-07-2026

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identify the incorrect information regarding your town, explain the negative consequences for the local economy and reputation, and provide actionable suggestions for the magazine. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second paragraph where the impact on the economy is mentioned multiple times. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is developed with more distinct, varied arguments rather than restating the same concern in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Secondly,' and 'Lastly' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some referencing is slightly unclear (e.g., 'this wrong data' could be more smoothly integrated). The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is easy to follow. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between your explanation of the problem and your proposed solutions is more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'reputation,' 'misinformation,' 'credible,' and 'reliable.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'information contains information' (redundant) and 'suffer with loss' (should be 'suffer from'). Additionally, 'backward area' is a bit informal for this context. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('information... need to be corrected', 'tourist are the main source') and missing articles ('in town' instead of 'in the town'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to pluralization, article usage, and subject-verb agreement. Proofreading your work specifically for these common errors before finishing would be highly beneficial.
