Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: correcting the information, explaining the importance of accuracy, and suggesting a solution. However, the development of these points is limited. For example, your explanation of why accuracy is important is somewhat vague, stating only that the government and people share 'wrongly information'. To improve, you should elaborate on the potential negative impact, such as misleading tourists or damaging the town's reputation. While the tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, the lack of clarity in some sentences makes the communication less effective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Therefore', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition'. However, the flow between sentences is often disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the mention of the library and the hospitals is disjointed. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow your argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms and struggle with collocations, such as 'share wrongly information' instead of 'provide inaccurate information' or 'misleading information'. There are also issues with word choice, such as using 'our town related' repeatedly, which sounds unnatural. While you are able to convey the basic meaning, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word formation (e.g., 'impotant', 'publishe') hinder the overall quality of the writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific terms related to travel and journalism would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('every hospitals they are'), article usage ('a article', 'the mall'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary complexity to demonstrate a higher level of control. For instance, 'I am right now working teaching field' is grammatically incomplete. While the meaning is generally understandable, the persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation require the reader to work harder to interpret your message. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will significantly improve your score.
