Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to rectify the information that I recently read in an international travel magazine, which was misleading.
I live in small town named Okera. I was reading international travel magazine and I fould out that one of the data that was mentioned about my hometown was completely incorrect. It had mentioned a town named Lulu with the highest countryside freeland area, which in reality is ranked on the second place. Whereas, Okera has the highest amount of countryside freeland area in the country.
It is very critical to present correct information especially on a global travel magazine, because many people get inspired through it and plan their itinerary accordingly. Moreover, if someone finds out that the given information is incorrect then, it can disappoint large number of people. This in turn reduce the trust of people for the data that is presented in magazines.
It is advisable to publish an apology in the article as soon possible in the upcoming magazine. Furthermore, add the correct information so that large number of population can get right knowledge, also youth can instill some crutial information about culture and heritage.
Thank you so much.
Yours faithfully,
Jacob Mccanell.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly identified the error regarding the 'countryside freeland area' in Okera, explained the importance of accuracy for travel planning and reader trust, and provided a clear suggestion for the magazine to publish a correction. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to an editor. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are slightly more nuanced; for example, the link between the correction and the youth learning about culture felt a bit disconnected from the main issue of travel information accuracy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In turn' to link your ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the correction of the data and the explanation of why it matters could be more tightly integrated. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the letter is easy to follow from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rectify', 'misleading', 'itinerary', and 'advisable'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fould out' (spelling error), 'highest amount of countryside freeland area' (slightly awkward phrasing), and 'crutial' (spelling error). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary from being considered 'flexible' or 'sophisticated'. Focusing on more precise collocations would improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I live in small town' (missing article), 'one of the data' (incorrect noun usage; 'data' is uncountable or plural), and 'as soon possible' (missing 'as'). While you attempt complex sentences, some contain errors that slightly distract the reader. To improve, focus on article usage and subject-verb agreement. The majority of your sentences are clear, but more consistent control over complex structures is needed for a higher band.
