Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir, Madam
I hope you doing well. I read the article of my city in your magazine. I really appreciate your for writing but you wrote inaccurate information in your magzine about city. You wrote there is bad transportation system but the buses and taxies are available for going anywhere and anytime until late night. Moreover, the timing of travelling , my town to airport is just 30 minutes however you wrote it took one hour.
Everyone visit any city or country after getting some information about that particular place from many sources. If you will give wrong information about town then the percentage of visitors will reduce and because of that the local business will also face loss. In addition the reputation of town will also decline and reader may also lose their trust in the magazines.
I suggest you to publish new magzine with accurate information as well as upgrade the online version. So that individuals will get right information. Additionally, invite the journalist to visit there, then write correct information.
Hope you will do it as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding.
Best regards

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: correcting the information, explaining the importance of accuracy, and suggesting a solution. Your position is clear throughout the letter. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed for a General Training Task 1. To reach a higher band, ensure that your tone is consistently formal and professional. For example, phrases like 'I hope you doing well' are slightly informal for a letter to an editor. Additionally, ensure that your explanations are fully expanded; while you mention the impact on local business, providing a slightly more detailed example would strengthen the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try to vary your transitions and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some minor errors in sentence structure occasionally disrupt the flow of information. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to communicate your points effectively. You use words like 'inaccurate', 'reputation', and 'individuals'. However, there are some spelling errors ('magzine', 'taxies') and minor collocation issues, such as 'I really appreciate your for writing'. To improve, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated collocations or topic-specific terminology would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the article of my city', 'the reputation of town'), subject-verb agreement issues ('I hope you doing well'), and punctuation errors in the salutation ('Dear sir, Madam'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic articles and verb forms to improve your accuracy.
