Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identified the inaccuracies regarding the park and transport, explained the importance of accuracy for tourists, and provided a constructive suggestion for the magazine. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to an editor. To improve, ensure that your explanations are fully developed; for instance, while you mention the importance of accuracy, you could briefly elaborate on how misinformation impacts the local economy or the specific trust readers place in the publication. Overall, the task is fulfilled effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'In addition to that', and 'moreover' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences in the second paragraph is occasionally interrupted by fragmented phrasing. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this information') is always precise to maintain a smooth progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inaccurate', 'recreational area', and 'residential areas'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'many tourists are rely on' (should be 'rely on') and 'publish a accurate information' (should be 'publish accurate information'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over articles and verb forms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated collocations related to journalism or travel would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'which connecting to town' (should be 'which connect to the town') and 'visitor to miss' (should be 'visitors to miss'). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as the capitalization of 'moreover' mid-sentence and the fragmented sentence 'sports centre for children'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are punctuated correctly. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help you move into the higher band range.
