IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You have just read an article in an international travel magazine which contained some information about your town that is incorrect.

Write a letter to the editor of the magazine. In your letter

• correct the information in the article
• explain why it is important for the magazine to give correct information
• suggest what the magazine should do about this situation

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Rishabh Wadhwa and I reside in Gurugram, Haryana, India. I am an avid reader of your magazine. I read the article about Gurugram recently. While I was impressed by the details that were added in the article, but I was a bit disappointed to see how it misinformed the readers about the road conditions in Gurugram. You mentioned that the roads have improved in the past few years, but I would like to call it to your attention that there is no significant improvement in the condition of the roads.

Generally, I do not like to criticise my own native place, but it's important to stick to the facts. I think as an editor you should adhere to the reality and be unbiased, rather than singing the tune of the politicians.

I urge you to print an apology in the next release of the magazine. Alongside, you should also state the true facts.
