Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this after having read your article in the international travel magazine which contained information about Windsor having poor student housing. This might not be the case the town council having passed a bill to renovate and cooperate with colleges to setup more infrastructure.
It is important for the magazine to give the right information because this encourages students to move into the area having got proper and affordable student housing. This would be relevant having recorded an increasing number of international students enroll with colleges with in the town.
I would suggest that this information is revised and more research be carried out. You could sought information from local town council website and as well from local town writers and publishers who might have more information you may need about the town.
Inconclusion your positive response to this letter and reiteration of the article would highly be appreciated.
Yours sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points: correcting the information, explaining the importance of accuracy, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why accuracy is important is a bit repetitive, and the suggestion to 'reiterate' the article in the conclusion is slightly unclear in context. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the impact of the misinformation—perhaps mentioning the potential economic damage to local businesses—to provide more depth to your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific requirement of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'It is important for...' and 'I would suggest that...', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'This might not be the case the town council having passed a bill'. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in light of this') would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'infrastructure', 'reiterate', and 'renovate'. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'You could sought information', which should be 'You could seek information'. Additionally, 'reiterate' is used incorrectly in the final paragraph; 'retract' or 'issue a correction' would be more accurate in the context of an incorrect magazine article. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, more precise and varied word choices would elevate the professional tone of the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'the town council having passed a bill' is a fragmented construction, and 'enroll with colleges with in the town' contains a preposition error ('within' is one word). There are also issues with verb forms, such as 'would highly be appreciated' (should be 'would be highly appreciated'). While your meaning is generally clear, more attention to sentence construction and consistent verb tense usage is needed to achieve a higher band.
