Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Hello Sir or Madam,
My name is Twinkal Bodala, I am part of the town called Vadodara. The purpose of my letter is to suggest some changes related to recent posted article in your magazine. Some information which are mentioned in your travel magazine namely "Travel Express" are wrong. I have recently read an article in your travel magazine which contained some information about my town namely Vadodara; some of the given information are incorrect.
The article suggested that my town was build by the mughal emperor namely Shah Jahan but my town actually developed by Maharaja Syaji Gayekwad; a hindu king rather than any muslim emperor. Please take a note on that. Also, article had provided some errors in the town's map itself. The map is incorrect and had some missing places like Anand, Davol and Bodal. Those small villages are completely absent on same page of the article. Please use town's website to use the recent map which have stated all small and big villages with utmost precision.
It is very important for magazine like yours to provide all information with top notch clarity. Travel express is a popular magazine which has significant fan base. Every reader expect truth and only truth from your side so, before using any information, have some deep scrutiny in details and use it with care as many people's sentiments are associated with it.
Magazine should republished same article with the changed informations and should give detailed explanation and apology to locals of the town.
Yours faithfully,
Twinkal Bodala.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You identified the incorrect information regarding the town's history and the map, explained the importance of accuracy, and provided a clear suggestion for the magazine to rectify the situation. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to an editor. However, the opening is slightly awkward; 'I am part of the town' is not natural phrasing. To improve, ensure your ideas are developed with more professional language to better suit the formal context of a magazine editor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Also' and 'It is very important', to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by repetitive sentence structures and some mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition between the historical error and the map error could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be enhanced by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. You use some relevant terms like 'scrutiny', 'precision', and 'sentiments'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'recent posted article' (should be 'recently posted') and 'have some deep scrutiny in details' (which is slightly unnatural). While your meaning is always clear, the vocabulary lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'Some information which are mentioned' (subject-verb agreement error: 'information' is uncountable), 'my town was build' (should be 'built'), and 'article had provided' (tense inconsistency). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as the misuse of semicolons. To reach a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and ensure better control over verb tenses and subject-verb agreement.
