Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope this letter finds you well.
I have been a regular reader of your international travel magazine. In your current month addition, there is an article published on 'Cultural Heritage' in which information about four heritages were there. In addition, one the of heritage was from my hometown entitled 'The Palace of Shah' however some of the information given were incorrect. For instance, it was built in 1859 and ruled by Emperor of Muslims. Moreover, it was attacked by Hindus in 1879.
It is very crucial for an reputable magazine like yours to publish authentic information only, firstly because the magazine is international and secondly you have earned readers after a decade of struggle. It may effect your credibility in long run.
I suggest you to re-publish the article with right information and you should mention that pervious article has misinformation. I am looking forward to you take measure in this regard.
Thank you in advance.
Yours sincerely,
Asif Khan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task: correcting the information, explaining the importance of accuracy, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding why accuracy is important is brief, and the suggestion to re-publish is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the consequences of misinformation or provide more detailed suggestions for how the magazine can rectify the situation. Overall, the purpose of the letter is clear and the requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an appropriate opening and closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'For instance', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the description of the errors and the explanation of why accuracy matters is slightly abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, though the structure of the second paragraph could be improved to better connect the importance of the magazine's reputation with the need for accuracy.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'authentic information', 'credibility', and 'misinformation'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'current month addition' (should be 'edition') and 'pervious article' (should be 'previous'). Additionally, 'four heritages were there' is slightly unnatural; 'four heritage sites were mentioned' would be more precise. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'one the of heritage' (incorrect article/preposition usage), 'information given were incorrect' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'It may effect your credibility' (confusing 'effect' with 'affect'). Furthermore, 'I am looking forward to you take measure' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'I look forward to you taking measures'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message.
