Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student covers all requirements of the prompt well. First, the incorrect information regarding the town being small, quiet, and lacking facilities is corrected, with the writer noting that it is beautiful, peaceful, and equipped with various amenities such as schools, colleges, restaurants, parks, and hospitals, alongside local industries like cutlery. Second, the importance of accurate reporting is explained by pointing out that readers rely on magazines for updates. Finally, a suggestion is made that the misleading information must be removed and correct facts published. All bullet points are addressed with relevant ideas, though some parts could be further extended to reach higher bands. Therefore, a solid band 6.0 is awarded.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure moving from an introduction to corrections, reasons, and a conclusion. However, the cohesion is somewhat mechanical and faulty. For example, cohesive devices like 'firstly', 'moreover', and 'in conclusion' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, and lower-case formatting throughout detracts from structural fluency. Paragraphing is present and separates the key ideas appropriately, but transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. This corresponds to the band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at topic-specific terms such as 'international travel magazine', 'misleading information', and 'local industries'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('thera' instead of 'there', 'facalities' instead of 'facilities', 'restraunts', 'cultery', 'eb') and awkward word choices like 'spread a correct information'. The range is somewhat limited, and these lexical inaccuracies prevent the student from achieving a higher band. Communication is maintained despite the errors, placing the response firmly at band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'i am writing to express my concern about some incorrect information...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring persistent errors including a complete lack of capitalization at the beginning of sentences and for the pronoun 'i', subject-verb agreement issues like 'there are many facalities are available', and awkward syntax in the conclusion ('must eb removed it and make assure'). While meaning is generally clear, these frequent errors place the response at a band 5.0.
