Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt. You clearly correct the inaccurate information from the travel magazine by explaining that your hometown does indeed have a reliable transportation system and an art gallery that opens every day. Furthermore, you effectively explain why correct information matters and suggest appropriate actions, such as removing the false details from all platforms and updating the website. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are extended and supported, such as when you explain the potential negative impacts on local businesses and markets. While some parts could be slightly more expanded to reach higher bands, all required bullet points are fully covered with relevant and well-supported ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

There is a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the letter. The layout follows standard correspondence conventions, opening appropriately with a formal salutation and closing with an appropriate sign-off. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate different functions: the introduction, the correction of facts, the explanation and suggestions, and the final polite sign-off. Cohesive devices are used adequately to connect your ideas, such as 'In addition' and 'Consequently'. However, referencing is occasionally slightly repetitive or mechanical, which keeps the text at this level. Overall, the progression of ideas is smooth and easy for the reader to follow from beginning to end.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'dissatisfaction', 'inaccurate', and 'reputation'. However, there are some noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'infromation' instead of 'information', 'an reliable' instead of 'a reliable', 'everyday' used as an adjective instead of 'every day', 'paltforms' instead of 'platforms', 'worng' instead of 'wrong', 'demage' instead of 'damage', and 'afftect' instead of 'affect'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the vocabulary score from rising higher. To improve, pay closer attention to spelling and ensure accurate word forms and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over your sentence structures with examples like 'I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with an article that posted in your international travel magazine...'. There are some grammatical errors, such as the redundant 'because that the infromation', missing prepositions or incorrect article use like 'an reliable transportation system', and minor punctuation issues. Despite these errors, meaning is rarely obscured, and your sentences remain generally clear. To move up to higher bands, you should aim for a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and refine your mastery of articles and dependent clauses.
