Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
This is Aakansha Chauhan, I am writing this letter regarding an article you recenly published on international travel magazine. The article contains incorrect information about Shiva Temple which needs to be corrected.
I have been reading articles from this magazine for the past few years. As it helps to understand various cultural values along with the real travel stories. However, when I was reading this article I noticed that you have mentioned about the Shiva temple in Kedarnath. Where you mentioned about the year it was built. However, this is 5000 years old heritage temple built by ancient people with their unique craftmanship which cannot be found elsewhere. Additionally, this place holds the spiritual values and heritage of our culture it can mislead some people who want to learn about our history.
Thousands of photographers and artists come here to explore the untouched history and see the amazing artwork on the temple walls. Therefore, it is very important to provide accurate information on heritage places.
I would appreciate if you could republish this article with correction so people can have true information.
Warm Regards,
Aakansha.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the disputed information about the temple’s age, explain that inaccurate details could mislead people learning about local history, and ask the magazine to republish the article with corrections. The specific claim that the temple is 5,000 years old gives the correction useful detail. Your explanation of the magazine’s responsibility is relevant, but the importance of accuracy is developed mainly through cultural and heritage value; you could also explain how incorrect information affects travellers’ plans or the magazine’s credibility. The requested action is clear, though it would be stronger to specify that the editor should verify the facts with a reliable local or historical source before issuing a correction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce the problem, describe the temple and the consequences of misinformation, then make a request. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Therefore” make relationships between ideas visible. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the progression within the second paragraph is not always smooth. For example, “As it helps to understand…” is separated from the preceding sentence, while “Where you mentioned…” begins an incomplete thought. Grouping the article’s error, the correct fact, and its significance more directly would improve flow. A more specific reference than “this article” in the final request would also make the connection clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range for a formal letter, including topic-specific expressions such as “heritage temple,” “spiritual values,” “cultural values,” and “accurate information.” These choices communicate the subject clearly, and “republish this article with correction” conveys your proposed action. There are also attempts at less common vocabulary, but some choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “craftmanship,” “holds the spiritual values,” and “untouched history.” Spelling errors such as “recenly” and “craftmanship” are noticeable, although the intended meaning remains understandable. To strengthen lexical control, check spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations—for example, “historical significance” and “traditional craftsmanship”—rather than combining familiar words in unusual ways.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the conditional idea in “it can mislead some people who want to learn about our history.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some sentence-boundary and clause-structure errors prevent consistently accurate control. “This is Aakansha Chauhan, I am writing…” joins two independent clauses with a comma, while “As it helps to understand…” and “Where you mentioned about the year it was built” are incomplete sentences. The sequence beginning “However, this is 5000 years old…” also needs clearer sentence structure. Review how dependent clauses connect to main clauses, and use full stops or conjunctions to avoid fragments and comma splices. These changes would make your varied sentence forms more reliable.
