Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing regarding the article about my town I read in the recent travel magazine. Unfortunately the article contains some incorrect information which is misleading and can affect the visitors that are visiting our town.
The article says that the town has no public transportation, which is a wrong information as it is not true. We have a 24 hours working public transportation which is very reliable and efficient. People in our town mostly travel using this public transport. In addition, this transportation runs throughout the year. Another information was about the towns' museum that is closed in winter. This is also incorrect information as the museum is not closed in winter, it is open throughout the year as transportation.
Providing right information about the town is very important as visitors and tourists rely on these articles and plan their weekends. Moreover, wrong information can lead to waste of visitors time and money. Also, most of our town's revenue depend on tourists, so providing wrong information is misleading.
I believe the magazine should provide correct information of the town in the next coming article and change in information on their online portal as soon as possible. Furthermore, the magazine owner should confirm the information from the town travels and then publish it after confirming it.
I hope the correct information will be published in the near future and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Prabhnoor

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three requirements clearly. You correct two specific claims—the lack of public transport and the museum’s winter closure—then explain the consequences for visitors and the town’s tourism revenue. Your proposed remedies are also relevant: update the online information, publish a correction, and verify details with local sources. These points establish a clear purpose and are supported with relevant explanation. To make the response more fully developed, specify exactly what the corrected information should say, such as the transport service’s operating hours and the museum’s opening schedule. The suggestion to publish in a “next coming article” is also less immediate than your online-update proposal. Overall, the letter fulfils the task effectively, with some details that could be more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: you introduce the problem, correct the two claims, explain why accuracy matters, and recommend action before closing politely. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and connectors such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help show how points relate. The organisation is easy to follow throughout. At times, however, linking is somewhat repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “Also” and “Furthermore,” and some references are not fully clear—for example, “as transportation” does not clearly identify what the museum is open throughout the year like. Use a wider range of linking methods and make references explicit. These refinements would make cohesion more flexible and less reliant on signposting.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes relevant terms such as “misleading,” “reliable,” “efficient,” and “revenue.” These choices help explain the impact of inaccurate information and the town’s dependence on visitors. You also attempt more formal expressions, including “regarding” and “confirm the information,” though some combinations are not natural or precise. For example, “a wrong information” and “town travels” do not express your intended meaning idiomatically; “incorrect information” and “local tourism authorities” would be clearer. Repetition of “information,” “town,” and “visitors” also limits flexibility. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary repeated terms while keeping the tone appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most ideas remain clear. For instance, the sentence explaining that visitors rely on articles and plan their weekends combines related points effectively. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “a wrong information,” the article is unnecessary with this uncountable noun; “the towns’ museum” has an incorrect possessive form; and “most of our town’s revenue depend” has subject–verb disagreement. The phrase “the museum is not closed in winter, it is open…” also joins two independent clauses with only a comma. Review articles, agreement, possessives, and sentence boundaries, then proofread longer sentences. Greater accuracy across these patterns would strengthen control.
