Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. Recently I have read an article and it contained false information about the town. I am writing to request you about change it.
My town is very beautiful and it has many facilities such as grocery stores or pharmacy stores. But in the article it contains incorrect information about town is that town has a school, but it is a pre nursary school. In addition, Town has a big school and it is available for 1st standard to 10th standard. In the future, we would like to extend it further.
Magazine must give correct information. As many people read an article and learn wrong information. Besides that, many people rely on daily news so wh must give accurate information.
I would like to request you that you should edit it or if it is possible delete it. Because it contains an false information. I hope you will understand it. I believe you will take an action immediately.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you correct the school information, explain why accuracy matters, and ask the magazine to edit or remove the article. The distinction between a pre-nursery school and a school serving “1st standard to 10th standard” gives the editor relevant corrective detail. Your explanation that readers may rely on the article is also appropriate, but it remains general; explain how inaccurate information could affect visitors or the town. The request to “edit it or…delete it” is clear, though you could specify a practical remedy, such as publishing a correction or updating the online article. Overall, the task is covered, but some ideas need fuller development and the letter’s opening could identify the article more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the problem, provide the correction, explain the importance of accuracy, and make a request. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and connectors such as “In addition” and “Besides that” show relationships between ideas. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “But in the article it contains incorrect information about town is that…” makes the correction difficult to follow, while “Because it contains an false information” is an awkwardly separated explanation. Use clearer transitions and refer directly to the article or the school to avoid repetition of “it” and “town.” A more precise progression within the correction paragraph would make the letter easier to read.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main issue, using relevant terms such as “false information,” “facilities,” “accurate information,” and “extend.” However, the range is limited and some choices or collocations sound unnatural, including “request you about change it,” “pharmacy stores,” and “take an action.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “nursary,” which reduce the accuracy of the message. Aim for more precise expressions suited to a formal letter, such as “request that you correct the article,” “pharmacies,” and “take action.” Replacing repeated general words like “information” with specific references to the school’s age range or the article’s claim would also improve precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, and the main message is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence construction and articles. For example, “Recently I have read an article and it contained…” would be clearer as “I recently read an article that contained…,” and “it contains incorrect information about town is that town has a school” needs restructuring. There are also errors in “an false information” and “I would like to request you that…”. These issues sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended relationship between ideas. Practise forming relative clauses and indirect requests, and check articles and sentence boundaries. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the letter.
