Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
The intention of my letter is to bring up an mis-information about your one of the article that you'r company posted in magazine.
Addressing my issue, two days ago, I was travelling from Punjab to gujrat via plane. As a reader I love to read different books and magazine that holds alot of information about different things. But one thing caught my attention that was related to my hometown about famous temple in Amritsar. It stated that the golden temple is situated outside the city.
However, this information can lead to consequence because most of the international travelrs rely on magazines for the guiding purposes. Originally, it's situated in the heart of the city which welcomes every single person.
To clear this mistake, you can post a online article related to exact location and contact the authorities of city to provide the guiders to make the situation lighter.
I sincerely value your support to this matter. I'll will look forward to your swift response.
Best regards,
Manpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you correct the location by stating that the Golden Temple is “in the heart of the city,” explain that international travellers rely on magazines for guidance, and propose publishing an online correction and contacting city authorities. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the details about your journey and connection to the town help establish context. However, the importance of accurate information is explained only generally, and the proposed response is not fully clear—for example, “provide the guiders” does not specify what the authorities should provide. Develop these points with a concrete consequence for visitors and a precise request, such as correcting the article in the next issue and online.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a broadly logical sequence: you introduce the complaint, describe the incorrect claim, explain its possible effect, and suggest a remedy before closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “However” and “To clear this mistake” signal transitions. Some connections are less smooth, though: “Addressing my issue” is an awkward transition, and the sentence beginning “But one thing caught my attention” makes the move from your reading habits to the error feel abrupt. The final proposal also combines an online article with contacting authorities without explaining how the two actions relate. Use clearer links between the background, correction, and requested action, and make references such as “this situation” more specific.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the purpose, including “international travellers,” “situated,” “heart of the city,” and “swift response.” These choices make the main message understandable, but the range and control are limited by several inaccurate or unnatural expressions. “An mis-information” and “your one of the article” do not express the complaint naturally, while “provide the guiders to make the situation lighter” is difficult to interpret. There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “travelrs,” “alot,” and “magazine” where a plural is needed. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling: for example, say “incorrect information in one of your articles” and “publish a correction.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the central facts are generally conveyed. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “I’ll will look forward” contains an incorrect auxiliary, and “I was travelling from Punjab to gujrat via plane” would be clearer as “I travelled by plane from Punjab to Gujarat.” The opening sentence also has a faulty structure: “The intention of my letter is to bring up…” A few sentences are long or joined awkwardly, such as the one beginning “As a reader I love to read… But one thing…”. Use straightforward, complete sentences and check articles, tense consistency, and punctuation when revising.
