Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I would like to report a complaint about wrong information is drafted on a 18th October international travel magazine about faridabad.
I would therefore like to inform you that first of all Faridabad spelling is written wrong. Furthermore, World street is inside NAHAR PAR not in OLD FARIDABAD. Moreover, nearest metro station is Bata Chowk.
I would be grateful If you correct this information in your travel magzine because Its a part of Delhi NCR. After a long time get name and fame after opening of world street in NAHAR PAR earlier it was just a village and now many Industrial sector and Residential building opening here. Any wrong information will take back employment opportunites. After all name is the identity of our place where I born and I want every one will respect this place instead of making fun. It should be in mind of everyone as a beautiful memory.
I would appreciate it if you could update the right information which I mentioned above as soon as possible in very next editorial.
I hope you understand the situation. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Thank you,
Shruti

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you correct the spelling and location of World Street and identify Bata Chowk as the nearest metro station; you explain that inaccurate details could affect the area’s reputation and employment; and you ask the magazine to publish corrections in its next editorial. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. The explanation of why accuracy matters is the least developed part: the links between incorrect information, employment opportunities, and people making fun of the place are asserted rather than clearly explained. The opening also says you are making a complaint, but does not specify the article’s exact incorrect claims until the next paragraph. More precise explanation and development would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a generally sensible order: it introduces the complaint, lists corrections, explains their importance, and ends with a request and polite closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these functions, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” guide the reader through the corrections. However, the sequence of connectors becomes somewhat mechanical, and the long paragraph beginning “I would be grateful” combines the correction request, local background, employment, identity, and reputation without clear internal progression. Some references, such as “this information” and “It,” could be more explicit. Group the factual corrections together, then develop the reasons in a separate paragraph, using fewer but more purposeful transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-appropriate language, including “nearest metro station,” “employment opportunities,” “correct this information,” and “update the right information.” These phrases help communicate the main purpose, and the vocabulary is sufficient to identify the local facts. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “report a complaint” is awkward, “information is drafted” does not express the intended meaning, and “travel magzine” contains a spelling error. Phrases such as “take back employment opportunities” and “beautiful memory” are also unclear in context. Aim for natural formal expressions and check spelling; for example, say that the article “contains inaccurate information” and that errors “could harm the town’s reputation.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, including “I would therefore like to inform you that…” and the explanation beginning “After a long time…”. This shows some effort to vary sentence structure, but control is uneven: several longer constructions are difficult to follow, and many sentences contain grammatical errors. For example, “wrong information is drafted” has an unsuitable verb construction, while “After a long time get name and fame” lacks a clear subject and finite verb. In “where I born,” the verb form is incomplete, and “I want every one will respect” combines incompatible verb patterns. Use shorter, complete sentences when explaining the reasons, and check verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries before submitting.
