Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the central problem—incorrect information about your town—and make relevant suggestions to edit or remove the article. You also explain that readers may trust the article and that it could harm the town’s reputation. However, the correction itself is never specified: the reader is not told what the article says or what the accurate information should be. The importance of accuracy and the proposed action are also expressed unclearly and receive little explanation, so the task is only partially addressed. The response is 143 words, below the required 150. To strengthen it, state the exact error and correction, explain the consequences with a clear example, and make a specific request, such as publishing a correction or contacting local authorities to verify details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall shape: it opens by stating the purpose, then discusses the effect of the error, and ends with suggestions. This gives the reader some sense of progression. However, the paragraphs do not develop their points clearly, and several ideas are crowded together, particularly in the paragraph beginning “This information is totally incorrect.” Connectors such as “Therefore,” “because,” and “moreover” are used mechanically or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. References such as “this information” and “this situation” are also vague because the specific error is not identified. Use one paragraph for the correction, one for why accuracy matters, and one for your requested action, with clear links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “incorrect information,” “reputation,” “article,” and “edit,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or difficult to interpret, such as “bad impression of my town,” “new generation has transfer incorrect information,” and “good impact of town.” Spelling errors, including “magzine,” “infromation,” and “artice,” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise, natural expressions such as “damage the town’s reputation,” “spread misinformation,” and “publish a correction.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating “information” when a more specific noun, such as “claim” or “detail,” would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to communicate several connected ideas, but the response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, and attempts at longer structures are often faulty. For example, “please its humble request to you” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “this magazine effect my town reputation” has problems with the verb form and possessive construction. In “All new generation has transfer incorrect information,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the verb form is incorrect. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “This information is totally incorrect,Therefore”. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense, agreement, articles, and punctuation.
