Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to bring to your attention a concern regarding an important information about my town that has been published in an international travel magazine by one of your editors.
I live in Delhi and it is famous for its rich culture. I was reading the article in your magazine that was published last Monday. On the page no.2, I was shocked to read that the information on the article about history of the Delhi had been written wrong. It includes missing details about the resons why those sites were built and important believes. Therefore, I believe it is important to correct the information in the article and publish again.
There are different historic sites to visit in Delhi that has been a part of international tourism. By publishing incorrect information in the article which is reaching readers at an international level, will develop a wrong preception about our country historic cultures and traditions. It is an vital responsibility of the editors to present the country to other nations by making sure that information in the article is correct.
Given the nature of theh problem, I would like to give you some suggestions to correct the situation. Editors can make sure that they breifly study about the history before publishing and double-check. This would help to avoid these situations in future as well.
I hope you take necessary steps.
Yours faithdyl

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three requirements: it identifies incorrect historical information, explains the consequences for international readers, and recommends that editors research and double-check material. The concern is clear, and the point that readers may form a “wrong perception” of the country’s culture is relevant. However, the correction itself remains vague: you mention missing details about why sites were built and their beliefs, but do not identify a specific error or provide the accurate information. The proposed response is also somewhat general, focusing mainly on future checks rather than explaining how the magazine should correct this published article, such as issuing a correction or publishing a revised version. More precise details and fuller development would strengthen the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce the complaint, describe the article’s problem, explain its importance, and then offer a suggestion. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “Given the nature of the problem,” and “This would help” make the relationships between ideas easy to follow. The opening and closing also suit a formal letter. To make the organisation more effective, connect the correction and the action requested more directly: the suggestion to double-check future articles does not fully follow through on how this particular error should be addressed. Some transitions are formulaic, but the message remains logically organised and understandable throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international tourism,” “historic sites,” “responsibility,” and “traditions,” and the reader can understand your main points. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “bring to your attention.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision and control: “resons,” “believes,” “preception,” “breifly,” and “faithdyl.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “an important information” and “country historic cultures.” Choose more accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, refer to “important information” without an article and to “the country’s history and culture.” This would make the vocabulary more reliable and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, such as “By publishing incorrect information … will develop a wrong perception,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, some sentence patterns are not controlled accurately. In that example, the opening “By publishing…” phrase does not have a suitable subject; you could write, “Publishing incorrect information may create a false perception…” There are also errors with articles and agreement, as in “an important information” and “historic sites … that has been,” as well as awkward article use in “the history of the Delhi.” These errors show that complex forms are being attempted, but more careful checking of sentence structure, articles, and subject–verb agreement is needed.
