Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both viewpoints and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph contains contradictory logic; it initially suggests that having like-minded friends makes life easy, but then shifts to arguing that this approach is stressful and leads to aggression, which is not clearly linked to the initial premise. The second body paragraph is better developed, focusing on the benefits of diverse opinions. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is logically consistent and fully explained with clear examples rather than just listing assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Initiating with', 'Secondly', and 'On its contrasting side', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'As a consequences' (grammatical error) and the transition between the two ideas in the first body paragraph is abrupt. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal logic within paragraphs needs to be more tightly managed to ensure a smoother flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors. Examples include 'shares same idology' (ideology), 'on a same boat' (in the same boat), and 'expands your brian cells' (brain cells). While the student attempts to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the inaccuracies in collocation and spelling occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for spelling errors, as these issues currently limit the precision of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'so are the poeple' (so are people), 'shares same idology' (share the same ideology), and 'people who held another view point' (hold). Subject-verb agreement and pluralisation are inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammatical structures should be a priority before focusing on more complex sentence forms.
