Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is widely argued that while making choices in friendship people should always choose who have similar ideology while others say that opposite mindset can be beneficial to both. This essay would examine both the views to which my opinion is inclined towards friends sharing disagreements which indeed can lead to a better future prospects.
To commence with, like how it is been said that ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’. In fast paced world, it is been observed that two friends who shares same ideology often comes up with a joint venture in business world . For instance, two individuals working as a professional partners will help them divide the burden by collectively working on a multiple project by raising the bar of their company. Additionally, it can also benefit them by managing finances together and fill up each other absence when one is going through any illness.
Moreover, friendship is said to be bond with no filters. Besides being pretentious, a true friendship shares an unwavering bond which benefits both of them in their highs and lows. It is essential to have someone in life with completely different perspectives from you which helps in breaking the monotony of living. In hustling and bustling lifestyle, parents are unable to look after their child at all times, in such cases a different opinionated person can guide other from getting off tracked in life. To exemplify it better, when two different minds are working together they can bring more creativity on board by tackling uncertainties combinedly as compared to monotonous methods of working.
To recapitulate, from my point of view, It is always advisable to have balance in a friendship who shares different wavelength to maintain the equilibrium. As I believe such friendships lasts longer and a person should always utilise the autonomy to get access to a different viewpoint prior making any self-decision.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph discusses the benefits of similar opinions in a business context, the second paragraph attempts to cover the benefits of disagreement but becomes slightly unfocused, drifting into a discussion about parental guidance rather than focusing strictly on the value of differing perspectives in friendship. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more tightly linked to the prompt to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the sentence 'Besides being pretentious, a true friendship shares an unwavering bond', which does not logically follow the preceding context. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common collocations like 'joint venture' and 'raising the bar'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'different opinionated person' instead of 'someone with a different opinion' and 'combinedly', which is not standard English. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precision and natural collocation would be required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('two friends who shares', 'friendship... are unable') and article usage ('in fast paced world'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The control of punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure occasionally feels clunky due to the aforementioned grammatical slips.
