Student answer (Band 6.5)

Friends plays an important role in everyone's life they are usually kind of our siblings from other mothers. Some people believe that it is nice to have friends who have different view point then yours but others disagree. in this essay , i will discuss both views along with my own opinion.

To begin with, it is really nice to have friends with same point of view as yours because it make your relation deeper with person . In other words, when two people have same opinions then its easy for them to know more about each other as they thinks almost the same. With time their friendships hits the another level where they know about them ever more than their siblings. For example, a popular singer Diljeet once mentioned in his interview that his friends have same opinions as him.

However, having friends with same view points can effect your decision making as they can easily influence you to join bad habits and they can stop your progress of your career . A survey from Harbor university in 2023 showed that almost 70% adults do not have a good career because they got influenced by their friends which causes to stop their progress.

In my opinion , having a friend with different view point is good as it enhance once critical thinking as well as provide different way to solve or see a situation.

In conclusion, although having friends with same views seems fun yet it stops your progress and do not provide different opinions on same situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that friends with similar opinions can influence bad habits, the argument could be strengthened with more specific, logical explanations rather than relying on a generic reference to a survey. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that each viewpoint is explored with more depth and that your personal opinion is integrated more naturally into the structure of the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'them' in the second paragraph, which makes the relationship between the ideas slightly confusing at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. You rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'same point of view' and 'same opinions'. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'hits the another level' and 'effect your decision making' (should be 'affect'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and idiomatic expressions related to social relationships and personal development to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have several subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'Friends plays' instead of 'Friends play' and 'they thinks' instead of 'they think'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall clarity of your writing. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical rules and punctuation will significantly improve your score.
