Student answer (Band 6.5)
When there is a discussion regarding selection of friends, there are two divide opinions. Some of them are telling that it is better to choose friends who has similar opinion like us. While others agree with totally the opposite viewpoint. I firmly agree with the first viewpoint since it is going to help us to maintain relation last longer and we can enjoy well with them. My opinion is discussed further in the paragraph.
First of all, having same opinion friends is the preferrable choice because it will help us to maintain good relation for lifetime and relation is very important in the life. Because families are not enough to support in emergencies sometime instead friends are playing vital role in these situations. Furthermore, It is also noticed that friends those who have same thinking can enjoy well together as there will be less confusion and fights for any plan. For example, planning a long trip is headache if everybody will not aligned but good group can make this memorable in life.
On the other side, having friend who sometimes disagree with the decision is also a good opportunity. Because they will not align with the decision and it teaches us how we can convince them and how we can maintain patience. Apart from that, those who has bad habits which can damage their life. In that case, good friends has opportunity to give knowledge regarding discipline and good habits,
In conclusion, I would suggest having same opinion friends are the best choice since its make our life easy in maintaining relation and for making some good plan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that friends with similar opinions help maintain relationships, the explanation remains quite general. The second body paragraph regarding the benefits of disagreeing friends is also underdeveloped; the point about 'bad habits' is introduced but not clearly linked to the prompt's core theme of disagreement. To improve, ensure each point is supported by a more detailed explanation or a more specific, illustrative example. Your position is consistent throughout, which is a strength.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other side' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'those who has bad habits'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between the final point in the second body paragraph and the rest of the argument is weak. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary such as 'viewpoint', 'emergencies', and 'discipline'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'divide opinions' instead of 'divided opinions', 'enjoy well' instead of 'get along well', and 'planning a long trip is headache'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic structures. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with more sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'friends who has', 'friends those who have', 'good friends has') and article usage. Some sentences are also slightly awkward in their construction, such as 'Some of them are telling that it is better'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
