Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is considered that having friends with same mindset and opinion is good, while some people disagree with this notion and believe that friends with different perspective are better for growth in future. This essay will discuss both views and as far as I am concerned peers with different opinions are best companion.

To begin with, It is often said that people with same mindset have less fights or argument which makes the bound stronger. To explain it , If two individuals have same view on certain topic or situation ,they can easily give results or conclusion about right or wrong. They feel support from each other and success in life.To cite an example, Dr. Sigmund freud in his book about human behaviour suggets that companion with same perspective have deeper understanding and love .

On the other hand, various views or insights can help a person to make better decision. Pals who have disagreement with each other will definitely discuss both right and wrong, positive and negative side. Disagreement stops from doing wrong and give insight of cons as well.To elaborate, If a person wants to start a new business , he should know both pros and cons and a friend with different perspective can help him to summarize the positive and negative , while considering the cons they can find solution of problem before it happens.

In my opinion, friends with different likes, dislikes are best duo because they will always aware you if you are doing something wrong .

To conclude, Friends are one who knows each other better

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the first body paragraph attempts to explain why similar opinions are beneficial, the reasoning is a bit simplistic. The second body paragraph regarding differing opinions is better developed, but the conclusion is abrupt and incomplete, failing to summarize the main points effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that each viewpoint is supported by more detailed explanations and that the conclusion provides a comprehensive summary of the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive (e.g., 'To begin with', 'On the other hand'). Additionally, the final sentence is fragmented and lacks a proper concluding thought, which affects the overall flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, cohesive structure would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use more specific vocabulary, such as 'perspective' and 'insights'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors in word choice, such as 'bound' instead of 'bond' and 'always aware you' instead of 'always make you aware'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to avoid repetitive or slightly unnatural expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in book about human behaviour'), punctuation issues, and subject-verb agreement errors ('Friends are one who knows'). These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they are noticeable. To achieve a higher score, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, pluralization, and verb forms, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater precision.
