Student answer (Band 6.5)
Friendship is an essential part of our life and having the a kind of friend who sometimes have opposite opinion can help us view situation from different prospective. I disagree with having the kind of friends who always convey what we want to listen.
Being supportive in friendship is necessary. Human being always look for acceptance due to which it look for people who share similar viewpoints in most aspects of life. When two individuals have same opinion able a particular situation decision making becomes smooth and efficient and for instance if two women who share same likes and dislikes goes for shopping they have higher chance of finishing shopping then those who share different views about products. It helps in cutting cognitive dissonance.
Undoubtedly, situations can change this opinion because when it comes to make serious decisions in life a wider prospective is important. A friend who have similar past experience in life can be completely useless in this situation for example, while choosing a life partner a friend who have different views can bring different aspects and can help better understand the person. Sometimes people are stuck at a decision due to their emotional state at this time they need a friend who could provide better picture of the situation and showcase some logical explanations which could save future damage
To conclude, it is better to have someone who carry some different experience and opinions which could guide better in serious situations of life. Therefor, same prospective can create troubles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of agreement for efficiency and the value of disagreement for critical decision-making. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding shopping is a bit simplistic and does not fully explore the depth of the topic. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development of the arguments could be more extensive to reach a higher band. The response stays on topic throughout and maintains a consistent position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices, such as 'for instance', 'undoubtedly', and 'to conclude'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas. The use of cohesive devices is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'cognitive dissonance' and 'prospective' (though 'perspective' was intended). However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'convey what we want to listen' instead of 'tell us what we want to hear' and 'finishing shopping' instead of 'completing their shopping'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('friend who sometimes have', 'friend who have different views') and article usage ('having the a kind of friend'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas that would help clarify the sentence structure. While the errors do not prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to limit the score. More attention to basic grammatical rules and sentence construction is needed.
