Student answer (Band 6.0)
Friendship is a unique relationship which is developed with time. Some people consider that having friends with same opinions are best. However, others think that disagreement between friends is also considered good friendship. As per my perspective, good friends are those who give their opinions without any hesitation as always agree on same points are not a good friends.
One of the primary reasons of this is that friends who have same opinions about everythings are more successful. Friends spend time with each other and know about each other's qualities. In this way, they try to make plans which is considered good by both friends. For example, Google company launched by two college friends because they both have same opinions about each other. Therefore, having friends with same mentality helps to become successful in life.
On the other hand, friends with different opinions are blessing because they never do sugar coatings, always speak truth. Sometime a individuals divert towards bad habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption. A good friend helps to leave bad habits of their friends rather than considering it a good thing. For instance, individuals leave bad habits after listening the opinions from their friends. Therefore, friends with different opinions are blessings for them who choose wrong paths in their life.
To conclude, friends with same opinions are helpful to become successful. However, friends who have different opinions are considered good friends because they save individual's life by diverting them to right paths of their bad decisions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both perspectives and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding Google is a bit tenuous and lacks sufficient explanation to fully support the claim that shared opinions lead to success. Similarly, the point about friends preventing bad habits is relevant but could be expanded with more specific detail or a more nuanced example. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall depth of the argument remains at a Band 6 level, as some ideas are under-developed or rely on generalizations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'One of the primary reasons', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the Google example and the concluding sentence of that paragraph is slightly abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some repetitive phrases and minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'sugar coatings' (which is an idiom used incorrectly here) and 'mentality' (where 'mindset' might be more appropriate). The use of 'blessing' is acceptable but slightly informal in this context. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('friends with same opinions are best', 'Google company launched by two college friends'), missing articles ('the Google company', 'a individuals'), and awkward phrasing ('listening the opinions'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are persistent throughout the text. Increasing the accuracy of complex structures and refining basic grammar will help improve this score.
