Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that friends with different opinions help with 'personal development', the explanation remains quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, concrete examples to support your points. For instance, in the second paragraph, you could describe a specific scenario where a disagreement led to a positive outcome. The conclusion is a bit brief and could better synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs to ensure the position is fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'those type of friends', where the antecedent is slightly ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'same opinion' and 'different opinion'. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'get a long time friendship' instead of 'maintain a long-term friendship' and 'improve each other cons' instead of 'address each other's weaknesses'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday words. Incorporating more topic-specific collocations and academic vocabulary would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('People believes', 'some has'), article usage ('in the every perspective'), and pluralization ('a friends'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that nouns and articles are used correctly. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences would also help demonstrate better control over grammatical structures.
