Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate when the topic of choosing friends depends on their opinions. It is frequently argued that it is a wise choice to choose friends who have similar point of view, whereas others contend that friends with contracting view is better. Prior to my stance, this essay will discuss both perspectives in the following paragraphs with appropriate example and followed by my opinion in further segments.
The major view point in a favour of choosing same interest people as friends is comfortness. By sharing individuals' thoughts and ideas without hesitation, even if it is not meaningful, build public speaking skill as well as self-esteem. As a result, their bond and understanding level significantly increase, which help them to count on them in emergency situation. Moreover, friends with matching both goals and travelling plans get multiple benefits from their trips, which will help them to relax at certain times and come back with enhanced efficiency. To cite an example, survey in British Newspaper in 26th of July, 2025, mentioned the results of group activity with same interest people perform well in their personal lives along with professional lives.
In regards to different personalities friend group increase creatively amongst them significantly. People with choices of opinions has a lot to say about their thinking behind the ideas, which boost confidence of the other friends to take a stand even the conversation converts in to debate. Consequently, this approach called as an Competitive spirit, that helps to generate various possibilities behind the small idea.
By way of conclusion, although when there is an argument between friends create clashes, I firmly believe similarity in though-process of people with in a same friend circle has multiple benefits such as lend a hand when in need, supports each other, and encourage peers to perform well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of like-minded friends, but the reasoning regarding 'public speaking' and 'travelling plans' feels slightly disconnected from the core topic of friendship dynamics. The second paragraph on differing opinions is underdeveloped, relying on vague assertions about 'creativity' and 'competitive spirit' without concrete examples. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments lack depth and logical progression, which limits the score to a 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical flow from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the phrase 'Prior to my stance' is an unnatural way to introduce the essay's structure. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, such as the shift from 'comfortness' to 'public speaking skills'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of non-standard word choices, such as 'comfortness' (comfort), 'contracting' (contrasting), and 'same interest people' (people with similar interests). The phrase 'this approach called as an Competitive spirit' is also grammatically and lexically awkward. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over collocation and word formation prevents a higher score. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring word forms are correct.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('friends... build public speaking skill'), incorrect article usage ('a survey in British Newspaper'), and awkward phrasing ('when there is an argument between friends create clashes'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels forced or ungrammatical. A greater focus on basic sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly enhance the clarity of the writing.
