Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate regarding topic of choosing friends depends on their opinions. It is frequently argued that it is wise choice to choose friends who have a similar point of view, whereas others contend that friends with contrasting view are better. Prior to my stance, this essay will discuss both perspectives in the ensuing paragraphs with appropriate examples and followed by my opinion in further segments.
The major view point in favor of choosing same interest people as friends is comfortness. By sharing individuals' thoughts and ideas without hesitation, even if it is not meaningful, build public speaking skill as well as self-esteem. As a result, their bond and understanding level significantly increase, which help them to count on them in emergency situations. Moreover, friends with matching both goals and travelling plans get multiple benefits from their trips, which will help them to relax at certain times and come back with enhanced efficiency. To cite an example, survey in British Newspaper in 26th July, 2025, mentioned the results of group activity with same interest people perform well in their personal lives along with professional lives.
In regards to different personalities friend group increase creativity amongst them significantly. People with choices of opinions has a lot to say about their thinking behind the ideas, which boost confidence of the other friends to take a stand even the conversation converts into a debate. Consequently, this approach called as a Competitive spirit, that helps to generate various possibilities behind the small idea.
By way of conclusion, although when there is an argument between friends create clashes, I firmly believe similarity in thought-process of people within a same friend circle has multiple benefits such as lend a hand when in need, supports each other, and encourage peers to perform well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both viewpoints and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'comfortness' and 'public speaking skills' is not fully logical or well-supported. The example provided (a survey in a British newspaper) is vague and lacks sufficient detail to be persuasive. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas could be extended with more depth and clearer reasoning to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the supporting arguments lack the necessary depth to fully convince the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'By way of conclusion', though some are used mechanically. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this approach called as a Competitive spirit', where the connection to the previous sentence is slightly awkward. Paragraphing is sufficient, but the flow between sentences could be improved to make the writing feel more natural and less like a list of points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several instances of non-standard word choices, such as 'comfortness' (comfort), 'same interest people' (people with similar interests), and 'choices of opinions' (differing opinions). These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited control over collocation and word formation. To improve, you should focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'choosing friends depends', 'friend group increase'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'this approach called as a Competitive spirit'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. More attention to basic grammar rules and sentence construction is needed.
