Student answer (Band 6.0)
A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED. IN TODAY'S FAST PACED WORLD MANY PEOPLE THINK TO MAKE PEOPLE THEIR FRIENDS WHO HAVE SAME THOUGHTS WHILE OTHERS BELIEVE THAT IT IS BETTER TO HAVE FRIENDS WITH DIFFERENT OPINIONS. IN THIS ESSAY I WILL DISCUSS ABOUT PROS AND CONS OF BOTH THE VIEWS ALONG WITH MY OPINION.
TO BEGIN WITH, BEING FRIEND WITH SAME PERSONALITY OF AN INDIVIDUALS IS SOMETIMES A WIN-WIN SITUATION. FOR EXAMPLE, TO WORK ON A GROUP PROJECT WHERE STUDENTS NEEDS TO SHOW THEIR CREATIVITY. WHEN SAME THOUGHT OF PEOPLE WORK TOGETHER , EVENTUALLY NEW AND BETTER IDEAS COME UP WHEREAS TEAMUP WITH PEOPLE WHO DO NOT LISTEN TO TEAMMATES CAN LEADS TO CHOAS AND RUIN PROJECT AS WALL AS MARKS COSTS TO EVERY PEOPLE IN THE GROUP.
MOREOVER, THERE IS A GROWTH WHERE DIFFERENT OPINIONS MATCH. DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT QUALITIES WHICH COME UP AND MAKES COMPANY'S GROWTH. FOR INSTANCE, PEOPLE WORKING IN A DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT BECAUSE OF THEIR CONTRASTING ROLE AND PERSONALITIES. ALL TOGETHER WILL RUN COMPANY, AND ALSO THEY CAN LEARN FROM THEIR COLLEAGUES AND SHARE THE VIEWPOINTS.
HOWEVER, IN MY OPINION, ONE SHOULD HAVE BOTH TYPES OF PEOPLE IN THEIR LIFE. THE PERSON WITH SAME POINT OF VIEW WILL SOMETIMES LEADS TO WRONG PATH BUT ON THE OPPOSITE IT SUPPORTS PEOPLE IN THEIR HIGHS AND LOWS JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR SAME OPINIONS. LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST, HAVING FRIEND OF DIFFERENT PERSONALITY CAN TEACHES MANY LESSONS IN LIFE.
TO CONCLUDE, FRIENDS WHO STANDBY AND THOSE WHO GIVES LIFE LESSONS ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT FOR SMOOTH TRANSITION IN EVERYDAY LIFE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example regarding group projects is a bit vague, and the connection between 'different opinions' and 'company growth' is not fully explained. The response would benefit from more specific, real-world examples to support the arguments. While the position is clear, the reasoning lacks the depth required for a higher band score. The conclusion is brief but summarizes the main points effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However', but they are sometimes used in a mechanical way. There are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, particularly in the second and third paragraphs. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical development within paragraphs could be more refined to ensure a smoother transition between the ideas presented.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'teamup with people' and 'marks costs to every people'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and occasionally uses words incorrectly, such as 'choas' (spelling error) and 'standby' (used as a verb phrase). To improve, the student should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate word forms to convey ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('students needs', 'can leads to', 'can teaches') and incorrect article usage ('the same thought of people'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization would be beneficial.
