Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that like-minded friends provide comfort and that differing perspectives aid personal growth, the supporting examples—such as 'styling and food choice' or 'alcohol addiction'—are brief and lack depth. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning by explaining the 'why' and 'how' more thoroughly. The position is consistent throughout, but the overall development remains at a basic level, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'on the one hand', 'on the other hand', and 'to recapitulate'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the fragmented opening sentence. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the lack of varied linking words makes the flow feel repetitive. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'same thinking', 'good', and 'boost'. There are also several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'bread thinking' (likely meaning 'broad thinking') and 'forshort time'. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary limits your score. You should focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic synonyms to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles ('a person's life'), subject-verb agreement errors ('some are believe', 'it provide'), and punctuation mistakes. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the lack of proper capitalization and consistent verb tense usage detracts from the overall quality. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for minor errors that occur due to haste.
