Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, alot of people believe that having a friend with similar opinion is way better than a friend with different views. However, other feels it is beneficial to have a friend with a different view as compared to your views.
On the one hand, Having a fellow mate with the same opinions can assist in creating a strong bond among each other. It can create a sense of trust between them as person can always rely on the others with the same views. Moreover, It is really common for an average human being to have a long-lasting friendship with the person who is having a same kind of views as you because It increases the chance of having the same kind of hobbies and interest in different kinds of activity
On the other hand, There are various postive reasons to have a friend who disagrees with your opinion sometimes. Firstly, it can completely change your way of looking at different kinds of things in your life as your friend may suggest you an opinon which is opposite from you ideas and it may help you to undrestand both the sides .Moreover, you can always rely on a friend who can honestly share his/her opinions and can provide you the real feedback instead of sugarcoating the answer inorder to make you feel better.
To conclude, Although having a friend who doesn't hesitate to disagree with you opinions plays a cruical role to undrestand the different views in the life, I believe having a friend with a similar opinions is always a blessing and can be more beneficial for a long-term relationship.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the bond created by shared interests and the personal growth fostered by differing perspectives. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments are presented in a fairly superficial manner. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, when discussing 'sugarcoating', you could provide a brief hypothetical scenario to illustrate how a friend's honesty prevents a poor decision. Overall, the position is clear throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level flow. For example, the phrase 'as person can always rely on the others' is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'beneficial', 'long-lasting', and 'crucial'. However, there are several spelling errors ('alot', 'postive', 'undrestand', 'cruical') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'fellow mate' (which is redundant) and 'same kind of views'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that detract from the professional tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a same kind of views'), subject-verb agreement ('other feels'), and punctuation (unnecessary capitalization of 'It' in the middle of sentences). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and article usage. Additionally, try to vary your sentence structure further by incorporating more subordinate clauses to demonstrate greater control over complex grammar.
