Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today`s fast-paced world, individuals hold diverse opinions on a wide range of topics. Regarding the issue of choosing friends, opinions are divided, with some supporting it while others oppose it. In my view, it is critically important to analyze both views before forming a well- rounded opinion.

Those in favor of having friends with same thinking argue that they will have fewer arguments, creating peaceful and low- stress environment. This perspective is based on the belief that when friends have similar views, its easy to take actions, makin plans. for example, while deciding friend`s trips, its easy to make plans for location, food, clothes and so on without avoiding delays and disputes when they have similar opinions. Additionally, supporters argue that they can also share feeling and values without any fear as they know next person will not judge them, which further strengthens the case for making friends with same views.

Conversely, others assert that having friends with different opinions raise valid reasons such as cognitive growth. This viewpoint highlights the benefits associated with enhancing their knowledge by sharing different ideas with each others. Furthermore, critics point out that foster empathy and open- mindedness friendships, as we become more understanding and accepting others views, emphasizing benefits of choosing friends with same opinions.

In conclusion, the debate surrounding choosing friends is multifaced, with valid arguments on both sides. while supporters emphasize the benefits, opponents raise valid considerations. After examining the arguments for and against making same friend`s opinions, it is crucial to weight evidence carefully before forming a definitive opinion. Hence, the sooner the people understand the value of having friends with different views, the better it is.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, satisfying the requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'cognitive growth' is mentioned but not fully explored with concrete examples. The conclusion is slightly contradictory; while you state you will analyze both views, your final sentence leans heavily toward the value of having friends with different views, which is a good development of a position, but the overall structure of the argument could be more robustly supported with more specific, real-world illustrations beyond the brief mention of 'trips'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Conversely', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'emphasizing benefits of choosing friends with same opinions' at the end of the second body paragraph, which seems to contradict the point being made about different opinions. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'multifaced', 'cognitive growth', and 'open-mindedness'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'making plans' (should be 'making plans' without the preceding 'makin'), 'next person' (should be 'the other person'), and 'same friend's opinions' (which is grammatically awkward). To reach a higher band, focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar, such as missing articles ('creating peaceful and low-stress environment'), incorrect verb forms ('having friends with different opinions raise valid reasons'), and issues with apostrophes ('friend`s trips'). These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are recurring issues throughout the text.
