Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been an issue of debate among people whether they choose peers who have same viewpoint as them always or friends who sometimes appose them. While I am agree with latter viewpoint, I will discuss both points in the upcoming paragraphs.
One of important reasons why people think that friends should be same liking or disliking is strong relationship. To clarify, if two person are same interest than it is less likely be conflict between them, which will lead to a longer friendship. Furthermore, It may be helpful in education perspective. For example, pupils, who are same interest in science or literature, could be a better friend since they can learn and help each other in school curriculum.
I support people who believe that sometimes there may be a difference in the opinions of friends. For the holistic development of individuals, they need person who think different form them because sometime they are not able to wider picture of situation. For instance, when they choose an important path in their life, which will change everything in the future, they need good friends who will appose you even if it hurts your feeling. Additionally, in today's era everyone has to face disagreement either at work or other areas in life. If they are prepare for this while having friends with disagreement, it would be better for them. Moreover, friends can be older; therefore, they can have much more life experience than them. As a result, friends who are different perspective than you often become a best friend.
In my opinion, although it is important to have friends with similar interest, there should be disagreement in some case which will help them to make future decisions and get analysis of real life experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of shared interests for long-term friendship and the value of differing perspectives for personal growth. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the explanation of how friends with different opinions help with 'wider picture' situations could be more explicitly linked to specific examples. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more detailed reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the discussion of the first viewpoint and the second could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'holistic development' and 'perspective', which is positive. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'appose' instead of 'oppose', 'same liking' instead of 'similar interests', and 'wider picture' instead of 'broader perspective'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on correct collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('two person are'), article usage ('in education perspective'), and prepositional phrases ('different form them'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'If they are prepare for this'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
