Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no gainsaying the fact that friends play and instrumental role in people’s life.many people think that thinking should be the same while making friends and they should agree on all decisions which people make wherease others believe that people had better choose those friends who disagree with opinions whenever they needed. This essay will examine both conflicting views embarking upon my school of thought.

To begin with, one of the plausible benefits of those friends who agree with all opinions is that it increases the bond between them. For example, when people go to vocation with their friend then they make plans to do various things to enjoy their journey so if when everyone agree with plans then they can enjoy and make it memorable. As a result, the chances of conflict can be reduced.

However, many people think that people should make those friends who disagree with their points because some time people fall victim to bad habits like they started talking drugs and other activities so that time if someone disagree with doing bad things then tell them the bad consequences then they can save their friends to be spoil future.Last but not least, sometimes people make wrong decision in their life but if they have good friends then they can change the decision with the help of their advice like sometimes people do mistakes choosing various things like choosing study and others .

To wrap up , although there are a lot of benefits of the same thinking friends, people cannot overlooked second points of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the opinion is not clearly stated in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant but remain somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding friends preventing bad habits is a good point, but it lacks specific, illustrative detail to fully develop the concept. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and fails to synthesize the arguments or clearly restate the writer's position, which is a requirement for higher bands. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a fully developed example that directly supports the main point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Last but not least' or 'To wrap up'. There are also issues with referencing; for example, in the final sentence, 'second points of view' is vague and does not clearly refer back to the previously discussed arguments. The flow between sentences is generally logical, but the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun referencing would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'embarking upon my school of thought' (which is used incorrectly here) and 'save their friends to be spoil future'. Some collocations are also unnatural, such as 'talking drugs' instead of 'taking drugs'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that collocations are accurate. Expanding your range of synonyms will also help avoid repetitive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'friends play and instrumental role'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'if when everyone agree'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation errors will significantly improve your score.
