Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an argument that say it is better for individuals to choose friends that have the same judgement as them while others think it is good to have friends who disagree with them when they are wrong. I totally agree with having friends who do not agree with you all the time because it allows for character development and builds good friendship.
On the one hand, some people think it is better to choose friends who always have the same opinion because it will reduce conflict. when people choose friends that share the same values and ideas as them they tend to develop a strong bond. For instance, there is an adage that says birds of the same feather flock together. Furthermore, friends that have the same opinion as one another tend to stay as friends for a longer period of time and rarely fight each other.
On the other hand, other people believe it is better to have friends who sometimes disagree with them because it allows for character development. Friends who tell their pals when they are wrong help the individual to rethink the situation and understand what went wrong. For example, individuals who have companions that constantly question their characters help them handle good or bad situations better. In addition, It is good to have friends who sometimes disagree with one another because this helps to strengthen the relationship.
In conclusion, certain individuals argue that it is better to be with friends who shares same belief as the person, I believe it is important to have companions who sometimes disagree with them because it allows for character development and good friendship.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that disagreeing friends help with 'character development,' this point is not fully extended with concrete, detailed examples. The arguments remain a bit general. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more in-depth explanation or a more specific, illustrative example rather than repeating the same point about character development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'them,' 'this') is always precise. The progression of ideas is clear, but the transition between the two main arguments could be slightly more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some relevant phrases like 'strong bond' and 'birds of the same feather flock together.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words like 'friends,' 'opinion,' and 'disagree.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms or collocations related to interpersonal relationships and social dynamics. The current level of vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'There is an argument that say,' 'friends who shares same belief'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and capitalization errors, such as 'In addition, It is good.' These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage throughout your writing.
