Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think it is better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them. While other people believe it is good to have friends who sometimes disagree with them. Both sentences have their own pros and cons. I will explain both in further paragraphs.
Firstly, some individuals choose their friends who have a similar personality, choices, and interests as they do. Friends who have the same opinion, they don't argue about things. To exemplify, two friends want to invest their money in property; then they don't think too much; they just go for it. Moreover, friend with same opinion always takes your side, no matter, what is the situation, and it will make their lives easy. they do not fight too much and their friendship stays long last. for example, two people have similar choices, then they don't think too much and argue on one topic. They make decisions easily.
Secondly, few people believe it is good to have friends who sometimes disagree with their decisions. These types of friends help you to grow better. They understand your situation and give you correct advice. for example, I am an overthinker; therefore, it is hard to make some decisions for me. If I do have a true friend, then he/she guides me toward a better future. Furthermore, it will resist people from doing wrong things. They will show them the right path. For instance, a person wants to go to the casino daily to grow their money. If they had a friend with an opposite opinion, then that friend would guide them on how to earn money instead of losing in the Casino.
However, if people have a friend with the same opinion as them, there might be some chances to go on wrong path. On the other hand, individuals who have friends who disagree with their opinion have a chance that they will not keep their friendship long-lasting.
In my opinion, it is better to have some friends who sometimes disagree and give you the right advice. Because, as I mentioned earlier, I am an overthinker. So, sometimes it's difficult for me to make right decisions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of harmony versus the benefits of personal growth through disagreement. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The arguments for friends with similar opinions are repetitive, focusing twice on the idea that they 'don't think too much' and make decisions easily. The examples provided are functional but could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but clearly states your position. To improve, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed point rather than restating the same concept in different words.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' 'Moreover,' and 'However' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'While other people believe...' at the start of the second sentence, which is a sentence fragment. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'they' in 'they don't think too much' without a clear antecedent in the previous clause. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their subjects would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'overthinker,' 'invest,' and 'opposite opinion.' However, there is a lack of more sophisticated or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the score. Some word choices are repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'opinion' and 'decisions.' There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'friendship stays long last' (should be 'long-lasting') and 'resist people from doing' (should be 'prevent'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise synonyms and idiomatic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Casino'), subject-verb agreement ('friend with same opinion always takes'), and sentence fragments ('While other people believe it is good...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences starting with lowercase letters after a period. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and ensuring every sentence has a complete subject and verb will help improve your accuracy.
