Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays it is hard to make a loyal friends in the society.

People have to choose those friends who always agree with their same statements, but some people think they have to choose those friends whose decision is in different way. In this coming paragraphs, I will discuss both views.

First of all, to make a good friends is best part of life. If people have same type of friends who always agree with their opinions then there relation would be strong and they have less chance of fighting and complaint about each other. Even that type of friends have same dreams in their life and they never compete with each other.

Additionally, they are good friends never ignoring never disappointed. For example, if they are making a plan to visit abroad then they have same funds same situations and same decisions, so they visit calmly without any jealousy.

On the other side, people with different decisions always having problem in their friendship. They never agree with each other because one of them think he or she is the smart member of their friends and he always feel jealous with the other members. Even that he never agree with other friends's statements. Smart member always look their benefit from the friends circle, they never think about others.

In conclusion, always make a friend who agree with your statement and suggest you better not arguing with other friends. And friends with different statement sometime they suggest better, which is beneficial for other persons

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding friendship preferences, but the development is limited. While you mention the benefits of having friends with similar opinions, such as reduced conflict, the discussion on the opposing view is somewhat confused. You describe friends with different opinions as 'jealous' or 'smart members' looking for personal benefit, which does not fully explore the potential intellectual or personal growth that comes from diverse perspectives. Your own opinion is not clearly stated or integrated into the conclusion; instead, you offer a final piece of advice. To improve, ensure you provide a clear position in the introduction and support each viewpoint with more balanced, logical arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In this coming paragraphs' is grammatically incorrect, and the transition 'Even that type of friends' is awkward. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second body paragraph where the argument shifts abruptly from disagreement to jealousy. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic phrases like 'good friends', 'same type of friends', and 'same decisions'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'make a loyal friends' (should be 'make loyal friends') and 'smart member of their friends' (which is unnatural). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and precision prevents a higher score. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to social dynamics, such as 'conflicting viewpoints', 'mutual understanding', 'intellectual stimulation', or 'constructive disagreement'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('one of them think', 'he always feel'), article usage ('a loyal friends'), and sentence structure ('they are good friends never ignoring never disappointed'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures; most sentences are simple or contain errors when attempting more complex forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practising the use of relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions would also help increase your grammatical range.
