Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are different opinions about selecting friends. Some believe having friends with same mindset as them can have better understanding, while others believe it is good to have friends who sometimes disagree with each other. In my opinion, friends who disagree with some decisions are better than same opinion friends.
An outstanding example of friendship in which there are different opinions is two people proving two different perceptions on any topic. In addition, this helps both the individuals about the advantage and disadvantage of any decision. A known writer once said, “opposite attracts”, this statement has been proved by common people. Young generations, for example, nowadays do not consider most of their life decision to be discuss with their families, they instead ask the first opinion from their friends to understand more precisely because of the same age and experience. Therefore, two different minds together can think differently and have more perspectives. Besides that, argue can be a challenge faced by such friendships but it can help both friends an experience to learn about relationships in future, we need to choose our friends wisely.
In conclusion, every coin has two sides - a head and a tail - friendships can sometimes teach lessons when two different opinions meet under one bridge. Whereas same mindset can understand each other better can’t assure any guarantee of no fights. As humans we ought to be decisive sometimes, therefore, friendships are god gift to us, people may attract with any of a kind as friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument about 'young generations' and their decision-making process is a bit vague and does not clearly link back to why disagreement in friendship is beneficial. The explanation of 'opposite attracts' is also underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, concrete examples or deeper explanations for your points. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'meet under one bridge' or 'can’t assure any guarantee of no fights'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes interrupted by phrasing that is difficult to follow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'same mindset' or 'same opinion friends', which is repetitive. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'argue can be a challenge' (should be 'arguments can be a challenge') and 'friendships are god gift'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in grammar, such as 'proving two different perceptions' (should be 'providing'), 'to be discuss' (should be 'to be discussed'), and 'people may attract with any of a kind' (which is unclear). These errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms (passive vs. active voice), and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
