IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people think it's better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them. Other people believe it's good to have friends who sometimes disagree with them.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Friend plays vital role in everyones life. Having a good friend in life consider as a luxury. While some people think it is better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them, others argue that it is good to have friends who sometimes diagree with them. I will discuss both views in the following paragraphs and will give my opinion.

On the one hand, some people choose friends who always have the same opinions as them because there are many advantages of having a friend who shares same thoughts and opinions. Firstly, If both friends have same opinion then they don't need to have an argument for anything. For instance, If they want to play sport together and both of them want to play cricket then both will enjoy a play together. Moreover, If both shares same opinion then it would be easy to solve any problems as a team. Furthermore, a person will feel more confident among his or her friend if they have same opinion on one topic. In addition, their bond will be strong each day because both will like each others company and opinions. Also, they can do all things and hobby together such as watching a movie, reading a book and outdoor activities. Therefore, having a friend who has same opinion like us would be the beneficial in every aspect.

On the other side, some people believe that it is good to have a friends who sometimes disagree with them, because if both have same opinion then sometimes both can do wrong things together. For example, If one person enjoy smoking requires a friend who tells that it is not a good for health considered to be a good friend. Sometimes people pursue negative influence, therefore having a friend who suggest to avoid nagative things and have a different opinion than them would be great for him or her. Moreover, it is good to have an argument with friends on some discussion or for some activities, It wil develop the good connection because even after having an argument they both will choose each other can teach the value of the relationship. Furthemore, a friend can understand their friends in a better way, If they have different opinion it will be for a good reason therefore it is good to have friend who diagree on our bad habits and choices.

In my opinion, having a balanced approach of both in one person considered as a best friend. A good friend is the person who has same interest on the activities such as reading, playing a sport and visiting a place and if people are choosing a wrong thing then a good friend is the one who will disagree and will do argument about it.

In conclusion, friends plays significant role in our life, therefore choosing a right friend is important for our life and career as well.
