IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people think it's better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them. Other people believe it's good to have friends who sometimes disagree with them.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is true that" friend is in need is a friend indeed". It is understandable that different people hold different views on different issues. The same is true regarding the given statement. Some people assert that it is good to be friend of those who have same opinions while others oppose it. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my own opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.
One school of thought is in favour of the former view. They think that making friends who hold the same opinions is a good idea. As they think same, consquently there might be a less chance of conflicts among them. Ultimately, it can be possible for them to keep their friendship for long period of time. Additionally, they feel that people with the same thinking can trust each other without any doubt.
The other school of thought express views is in favour of latter view. They consider that as opposite attracts, the same is true about the friendship. They say that individuals with different mind set is a perfect example for good friends. As they share their ideas with each other. In this way they can learn something from one another such as If one person is not good in mathematics and vice -versa. This would benefit other person to learn from them.Moreover, some individuals get mature before their age, they have logical reasoning to support their friend.
In conclusion, the views of both sets of people are based on the strong ground. I am with the latter view. I believe that such a system is more logical than other one.
